Over the months, the Deputy President Hon. William Ruto has always insisted that his eyes are set on 2022 and those telling him to run for presidency in 2017 are just distracting him.
He should see the light early before 2022 and if he still thinks that the Mt.Kenya region will vote for him then he is still sleeping. Mt. Kenya region has the largest population and for the them to give up power just because they promised you is lying to yourself.
They believe they can clinch presidency without any support. So, why support you yet they can just do it? It will take a miracle for that to happen. Having said that, the deputy president has no choice but to deputise either Raila odinga or Musalia Mudavadi and given the bad blood between most of the Rift Valley block and ODM, supporting Raila will backfire on him big time.
Reports in the media suggest that President Uhuru Kenyatta wants his deputy to be JAP party leader and spearhead Uhuru’s re-election bid. That is a way of trapping him.
Going by the mood on the ground, the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta might seem unlikely. This will mean the Mt. Kenya region will have a reason not to support Ruto in 2022 should their man fail.

This leaves the deputy with the best choice of Musalia Mudavadi. He has in the few months been a darling of the western Kenya community which is the second most dominant group in Kenya. The media has also branded him a voice of reason by the way he articulates issues. It is a sure win if the two come together. The people of western region have never emerged winners in a presidential contest and by Mudavadi running all the way in a new party devoid of propaganda, am sure the western community’s eyes will open, see power and back Mudavadi . Musalia Mudavadi is a leader liked across the board and I have never heard him engage in any dispute with the people of Rift Valley. Whichever way you look at it, a Musalia-Ruto combination can move mountains and as you know, in 2017 if the people vote for Musalia Mudavadi, it’s upon Hon. William Ruto to decide whether he will want the western region support in 2022 or not.
