Assembly members opposed to Governor Hassan Joho's leadership have been given a two-week ultimatum to either stop the criticism or leave the party.
Announcing the warning, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party activists said some MCAs have been peddling lies about Mr Joho on whose popularity they were elected.
Speaking in Mombasa yesterday, the activists accused Kadzandani MCA Mohamed Ndanda, Jabez Oduor (Kongowea) and their Mikindani counterpart Dan Onyango of undermining Joho despite "owing their elective posts to him".
The three are allied to Nyali MP Hezron Bolo, a critic of the governor. "We're giving them two weeks to quit the party. They have been going around giving false accusations about the deputy party leader who during the 2013 campaigns spent sleepless nights to ensure they were elected," said the activists' leader, Mwinyi Menza.
