I am an averagely educated Kenyan so forgive me in advance for I am aware that my grasp of this foreign language is not good, and for the likes of Mutahi Ngunyi who speak it like they own it, forgive me too if you fail to understand me.
On that note, I wish to ask Mutahi Ngunyi a few questions. Not to sound tribal but let me inform you that I am a luo, and even though I do not own a Mansion or a car, I am not poverty stricken. I ride my bike to work, six days a week which means I don't need to go to the gym, that is enough exercise for me.
I may live in a single room in Nyalenda, but I I do not beg in the streets. I get three meals daily because my father in Heaven ensures I am okay. I do not put on fancy suits, or designer shoes, but I can assure you that I have two pairs of "mitumba"shoes that keep me from getting jiggers, glory to God!
Like you (Mutahi Ngunyi), I get a bottle or two "baada ya kazi" and you can rest assured that my "transformer" is intact and operational, thanks to our very nutritious omena and unga. Please, do not get me wrong, I am not giving you the sorry story of my life, I just want to confirm to you that all is well.
I wonder why "learned"and "wealth striken" people like you bother so much about what I eat, drink and whom I support politically, going to the extent of insulting me and rubbing it in my face that I am not rich. Mutahi, do you have statistics on the number of Kenyans who are sleeping in the streets of all the major towns? Do you know the number of wasted alcoholics who need rehabilitation? Do you have any idea of the number of prostitutes in this country who try to make ends meet?

Ooooh! So now that there is a fish processing plant in Thika, and there is none in Kisumu, is it a problem of my own choosing? Now that we (Luos) can no longer plant cotton because the government has ensured that there's no market for it, is as a result of my support for Baba, right? Oooh! Baba is responsible for the hyacinth in the lake, he is responsible for the jiggers in Murang'a, he is responsible for mutilated transformers and poor bedroom skills in Gatundu and Nyeri, right? He is responsible for global warming and Al shabaab too, right?
Ngunyi, I am a proud Luo, confident and independent. I am tempted to insult you but I can't because I am not as "learned" as you are, but since you do not feed my family or pay my bills, refrain from calling me poor, because I have never begged for salt from your house. Live your life, and let me live mine.
