Kericho, Kenya: Hundreds of Kapsoit residents in Kericho County barricaded Kericho- Kisumu highway to protest the death of two people in an open septic tank.
The two allegedly met their deaths as they fled from police who were conducting raids on second generation drinks in the market.
Kapsoit ward Member of County Assembly William Kipkurui, said nine people fell in the open hole but seven of the victims were rescued and taken to Kericho District Hospital suffering from broken limbs as two succumbed.
Kapsoit ward administrator Isaac Bosuben, urged residential plot owners in the area to ensure they properly cover pit latrines and septic tanks.
