Kakamega, Kenya: An angry mob burnt a suspect believed to be a member of a gang that has been terrorising residents of Kakamega town beyond recognition.
One of the gang members escaped with serious injuries after the mob attacked him in his house, leaving behind a three-year-old child. Police acting on a tip off rescued the child.
The suspect, Kelvin Ochieng’, as per the documents found in his possession, was killed after being ambushed when they attempted to break into a resident’s house in Shichirayi estate.
A resident, Simon Munanga, said insecurity is on the increase and they will lynch more if police cannot act.
Kakamega OCPD Richard Ngetich, confirmed the incident and appealed to locals not to take the law in their hands.
