Women encouraged to form Saccos

Women will now be cushioned from harsh penalties of micro-finance institutions following the launch of a savings and credit facility in the county.

According to Women Rep Gladys Wanga, the organisation, known as Homa Bay County Women Sacco aims to empower women in all the eight constituencies in the county.

"Many vehicles on our roads today are owned by people who have formed Saccos. Time has come for women to uplift themselves financially by venturing into money-generating activities through Saccos," Wanga said.

The facility was officially launched by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Ligisa Secondary School in Rangwe.
