The Industrial Court sitting in Nairobi has quashed the dismissal of senior National Gender and Equality Commission officers.
Justice Nzioka wa Makau issued an interim order of injunction barring NGEC from declaring the positions of the officers vacant or recruiting replacements pending the determination of a case filed by one of the employees.
NGEC chief executive officer Rose Odhiambo had moved to court after NGEC board sacked senior officers including the CEO, her deputy, head of legal department and the finance manager over an insurance tendering scam. The court ordered the application be served and heard inter partes within 14 days.
She further ordered the commission to deposit into court a sum of Sh23,065,502 as the aggregate payable to the claimant under her contract of employment, pending the determination of the case.
The Standard has learnt that four other sacked officers have also moved to court to challenge their dismissal.
