Posta Rangers and West Kenya are through to the semi-finals of the 2014 GOtv Shield Cup after their opponents in the last eight encounters played at City Stadium yesterday. Both matches recorded two goals as both all teams played cautiously.
In the first tie of the day, National Super League side West Sugar Kenya was booked a semi-final berth after their 1-0 win over Agrochemicals in the first quarter-final match.
Towering forward Nelson Simwa netted the solo goal in the second minute of the match as Ezekiel Akwana’s side kept at bay a fighting Agrochemicals to make the last four. Simwa was on target from an Andrew Diego pass.
Later, Posta Rangers eliminated Kenya Premier League Side Bandari FC by a solitary goal in the quarter-final match to advance.
Kenyan international Joseph Nyaga scored the all-important goal on the 40th minute, tapping home neat cross from Moses Otieno cross.

Posta Rangers Coach Maina was buoyant of lifting the shield saying that his record in the contest speaks for itself.
“We have done well so far, we have had convincing victories and am confident of the team lifting the trophy.”
Rangers thrashed Ulinzi Wariors 4-0 and then later humiliated Chemelil Sugar 2-0 on their way to the quarters.
Maina added that Rangers who have been out of the Premier League for two seasons following their relegation in 2012 are set to make a comeback. “We are also working hard to get back to the ptop league, we have been out but we are stronger now and ready for the premier league,” he added.
Bandari Coach Twahir Muhidin was disgruntled after the match saying his team was denied a penalty after his striker Shaban Kenga was fouled in the box. “Poor officiating cost us this match, my striker was fouled and the referee ignored that, it is very disheartening,” Muhidin said.
