MERU, KENYA: Police in Tigania East, Meru County are investigating an incident where an assistant Chief is being accused of raping his mentally handicapped daughter before going into hiding on Thursday evening.
The Assistant Chief is said to have sexually assaulted his 18-year-old daughter at his home.
Tigania East OCPD Charles Kosgey said security officers have began a manhunt for the 50-year-old suspect who is still at large.
"The suspect is said to have defiled the daughter several times and was rescued by relatives who heard commotion in their house. The lady was treated at Muthara Level Four Hospital and discharged," Mr Kosgey said.
Kosgey called on the members of the public to be on the lookout and give information that may aid in the arrest of the assistant Chief.

"We have launched investigations into the matter. Once we gather evidence we will press charges of rape against the accused," he said
According to the wife of the accused, the administrator allegedly undressed his daughter and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm before committing the beastly act.
She has also recorded a statement with the police fearing for her life after the suspect threatened to kill her and her daughter if they give any information to the police.
Recently, a 40-year-old man was arrested at Mbeu area in Tigania West Sub County and arraigned in court for defiling a 14-year-old girl.
