A middle-aged man is nursing serious burns at Busia District Hospital after his wife set their house in Kotur village, Teso south sub county ablaze Monday night.
The woman arrived home from a drinking spree in the neighbourhood at 1 am and found her husband asleep. She allegedly sneaked away their 12-year-old son who was asleep with the father. She later locked the house from outside before setting it on fire.
Neighbours said the man raised the alarm after realising the house was burning and his son missing. Area assistant chief Joseph Ipeete said the man was rescued from the inferno by neighbours and rushed to the hospital. The woman is being detained by police.
