NAIVASHA, KENYA: NACADA chairman John Mututho now wants the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the authority.

Mututho said that the commission should urgently go through the authority’s books as all was not well.

The former Naivasha Mp echoed President Uhuru statement that corruption was rife in various government agencies.

Mututho who has in the past alleged that millions of shillings have been embezzled in NACADA said that there was need for investigations into the authority accounts.

“I support the Presidents statement on corruption and we should work as a team to ensure that we fight this vice,” he said.

Last week Uhuru admitted that corruption was rife in his Harambee House and blamed senior officers for the problem.

Mututho noted that corruption stemmed from the senior to the junior officers in the government a move that was adversely affecting service delivery.

Addressing the press in Naivasha over the weekend, Mututho said that there were strong forces in the government that were fighting corruption.

He said that he was ready to fight the vice head on despite meeting resistance from various quarters.

The sentiments come barely a week after the authority board held a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku over differences in the authority.

At the same time, NACADA had identified Kasarani area in Naivasha as the leading producer and consumer of illicit brews in Nakuru County.

Mututho said that changa’a brewing and consumption was going on in the open and challenged the provincial administration to act.

He said that he would lead a raid in the area that is inhabited by hundreds of flower workers.

“We are perturbed by the production and consumption of illicit brews in Kasarani Naivasha and we are challenging the necessary government institutions to act,” he said.

Mututho noted that the illegal trade had adversely affected hundreds of youths and families adding that there was urgent need to address it.
