Turkana, Kenya: A Kenya Red Cross officer was shot and seriously injured by unknown assailants at Nakumoru area along the border of West Pokot and Turkana Counties.
The officer was reportedly attacked at around 3 pm Thursday as he drove from Loima towards Ortum along the busy Lodwar – Kapenguria highway.
West Pokot County Commander of Police Charles Wasike said the assailants attacked and shot at the vehicle which had three other people on board injuring the driver.
He said police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects adding that criminals have taken advantage of the cross-border conflicts in the region to attack innocent people.

Wasike, however, pointed out that police are still investigating the incident and soon the culprits will be brought to book.
He said the victim was rushed to Ortum Mission hospital before he was referred to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret where he is nursing gunshot wounds.
