Standard Group rewards devoted readers

Three lucky winners of the Jicheki na Thao promotion by the Standard Group were full of joy as they received their cheques of Sh100,000 each.

Simpson Osiemo received his cheque from Nakuru Regional Editor Alex Kiprotich at the Nakuru Bureau office yesterday.

Mr Osiemo, who runs a marketing company in Nakuru, said he has been an avid reader of The Standard newspaper.

“I am so happy. This is my reward for always reading The Standard and call on others to do the same, they will be rewarded,” said Osiemo.

Khalifan Mwamwisho Beduni and Tobias Osuri Oluendo, who won on October 10 and 15 respectively, received their cheques from Coast regional Editor David Ochami at the Standard Group Mombasa offices.

Mr Beduni, a retired accountant from Kwale County, said he was informed by his wife that he had won. He said he has been reading The Standard for the past 15 years.

Mr Oluendo, a supervisor at Kenya Ports Authority, said he entrusted his daughter with checking the winning number.

Oluendo said he would reward his daughter by clearing her fees balance. He praised The Standard  on its reporting and urged other readers to continue participating in the Jicheki na 100 Thao promotion.

The two are the first winners from  Coast region in the promotion.

Osiemo said he bought his newspaper from a vendor on the streets of Nairobi while on a business trip.

“I am an avid reader of the Standard Group publications and was not aware of the ongoing promotion. I bought the newspaper in Nairobi and only learnt later that it had the winning serial number,” said Osiemo full of joy.

“I like the Standard Media Group because of its well-packaged authoritative news, well researched features and exclusive stories,” he said.

He encouraged other readers to participate in the competition.

For one to win in the Jicheki na Thao competition, he or she should buy a copy of The Standard newspaper, keep the newspaper and the serial number printed on the back. The winners are announced on KTN every Saturday at 6.25pm.

The promotion began on September 18 and ends on November 1.

Every day, one lucky winner walks away with Sh100,000.
