NAIROBI; KENYA: More personnel have been mobilised to Nairobi to beef up security at the Nairobi International Trade Fair set to kick off Monday.
Security chiefs said they do not want to leave anything to chance.
“We are taking the measures to ensure those who visit the area are safe all the time and beyond. This applies to Nairobi at large,” said Nairobi County police chief Benson Kibue.
He added they have heightened security at major churches in the city in the wake of threats of terrorism.

“The threats are there and we urge all Kenyans to help police in protecting them. It is everyone’s duty,” he added.
The heightening of security comes in the wake of US travel advisory to its citizens visiting Kenya over growing terror threats.
US advisory
The statement indicated that Nairobi and Mombasa were potential points of attack.
But the Kenya Government expressed disapproval of the travel advisory and called for its immediate withdrawal.
“We wish to unequivocally condemn the re-issuing of the travel advisory, and reject it as unnecessary and uncalled for,” read the statement from the Foreign Affairs ministry.
The development comes even as President Uhuru Kenyatta led the country’s top leadership and politicians in cautioning against travel advisories.
The President, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi said any travel advisory ‘would hurt the economy’ and asked the western country’s to treat the Westgate terrorist attack as an isolated case.
