A statement by Amisom said the exact cause of the crash is yet to be established but investigations have been launched.
“There has been no damage to the runway and operations at the airport are expected to resume shortly,” Amisom said in the statement.
Amisom is a regional peacekeeping mission operated by the African Union with the approval of the United Nations.
The troops were deployed to Somalia to battle Islamist militant group Al Shabaab and regularly use the Mogadishu airport.
