Nyeri, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the youth to avoid excessive drinking and other activities that puts them in conflict with the law.

Addressing roadside meetings in Nyeri County, the President advised the youth to engage in activities that will improve the livelihoods.

He said his government was committed to develop programmes that will improve on the economy to create employment for the youth.

President Uhuru particularly urged students to shun drinking and other social vices that may distract their focus on studies and prepare for future challenges.

He said it was only through hard work that students will excel in their examinations in order to take rightful positions in society in future.

The President stopped at Karatina town, Sagana, Kiamariga, Ruthagati and Ngorano trading centres to address residents.

President Uhuru at the same time assured Kenyans that his government will work with all elected leaders irrespective of party affiliations to ensure peace and unity prevailed in the country for tangible development.

He said emphasized that politics were over and all elected leaders should now settle down and deliver on their
mandate.

The President once again hit out at politicians agitating for higher pay and challenged them to rise
above personal interests and serve Kenyans.
