Mary Muga scored a sterling 38 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner of the Eco Bank Sunset golf tournament at Nyali Golf and Country club on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 26, Muga played 15 points in the outward nines, which included a par on hole 3, a scratch on hole 6 and a mixed pot of bogeys.
She returned in the inward nines with 23 points that included three pars, four bogeys and two double bogeys on holes 12 and 14 to lift up the trophy in the Sunset category.
This was her second major victory with the same points after emerging the best lady in the Postal Corporation sponsored EMS Golf tournament at the same venue two weeks ago.
"My golf is improving and God willing, I will be ready to defend my title next year, said Muga.
Muthaiga’s handicap 12 Maurice K’anjenjo finished second on a score of 36 points, while Clement Agina was third, a point adrift.
In the members’ category, handicap 27 Suresh Popat was the winner on a score of 41 points.
Popat had a par on hole 3, scratched hole 4 and placed the rest of the holes with mixed bogeys for 19 points in the outward nines, but returned in the inward nines with 22 points after playing two pars on holes 10 and 18, and rounded up the rest of the holes with mixed bogeys.
Schoolboy Adel Balala was the best junior on a score of 35 points, with 19-22 points in both rounds.
Eco Bank and members of the Sunset golfing society sponsored the one-day tournament that attracted 103 golfers from Nyali, Mombasa, Malindi, Leisure golf clubs and guests of the sponsors with valid handicaps.
