Shock as University urges students to take part in naked run to mark new academic year

USA: Hordes of naked students are being invited to take part in a wacky fun run to mark the first day of the new academic year.

The University Student Naked Mile invites revellers to strip entirely - or partially - and make their way along a mile along a pre-designated route.

Details for the event in Manchester on September 20 have been advertised on Facebook, reports the MEN.

The post adds: “This is the perfect opportunity for all old and new students to come together and let off some steam before the year begins!

"New students are encouraged to take part as it’s a great way to make friends and have some fun.

“This event is just for fun. If you don’t want to take part then you’re more than welcome to watch or not take part at all.”

The Facebook post says the exact location of the naked run will be announced on September 1.

Organisers say all those taking part must be a current student at a university or be a new student from September, 2015.

It’s understood that other similar naked run events are being organised for Liverpool and Nottingham. The concept comes from college campuses in the United States.
