Morocco (Atlas Lions) beat Mali 2-0 in the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Sunday, becoming the first team to retain the trophy in the competition’s history.
Soufiane Bouftini and Ayoub El Kaabi both scored in the space of 11 second-half minutes to help Morocco secure the trophy once more in the tantalising final in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Defender Bouftini opened the scoring after 68 minutes and forward El Kaabi added the second in the 79th.
The tournament also served as a test event for Cameroon, who in January 2022 host the 24-team Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
