The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced when investigations against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials that bungled the August 8 polls will begin.
Responding to concerns by Kura Yangu Sauti Yangu lobby group and the National Super Alliance (NASA), Keriako Tobiko indicated that the probe will commence once the Supreme Court gives a detailed judgement from the presidential petition case.
“In order for me to give clear, precise and specific directives to the Inspector General of Police or any such other criminal investigative agencies as may be appropriate, and so as to facilitate a holistic and comprehensive investigation I am of the considered view that it would be proper to await delivery of the detailed and reasoned judgment of the Supreme Court,” explained Tobiko.
According to Mr Tobiko, the comprehensive judgement will contain details of irregularities and illegalities found to have been committed by the electoral body.

The Kura Yangu Sauti Yangu Initiative had in August pointed out that the presidential election results revealed major inconsistencies between figures that appeared on the IEBC website and those announced by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The group also claimed that the voter turnout exceeded the number of registered voters in certain polling stations in the range of 129 per cent to 182 per cent among other concerns.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga had last week vowed that he would not participate in the October 17 repeat presidential election unless IEBC CEO, Ezra Chiloba, was sacked and prosecuted.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate reiterated that he would boycott the poll if drastic changes were not effected in the electoral body.
