Chief of Defence Forces General Julius Karangi has thanked the public for supporting the military in Operation Linda Nchi.
Karangi said the public and Government recognises and appreciates the efforts and role of Kenya Defence Forces in Somalia.
He said the confidence bestowed on the military during various international peace missions is testimony of high training and professionalism.

He was speaking at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru on Wednesday when he presided over officer Cadets’ Commissioning Parade.
Karangi said the country has since independence taken pride in its military.
"I thank Kenyans for the support as our forces continue to engage extremists in Somalia. On your behalf I send goodwill and blessings to our warriors across the border," he said.
Karangi cautioned the newly commissioned officers against behaviour that can jeopardise personal health and safety.
