Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has left for Nicosia, Cyprus, for a three-day official visit on the invitation of the President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias.

While in Cyprus Mr Musyoka is expected to hold bilateral discussions with senior Government officials ranging from education, cultural exchange, investment, and tourism.

Accompanying the VP are Special Programmes Minister Esther Murugi, Assistant Ministers Kabando wa Kabando and Osman Kamama, Mathira MP Ephraim Maina, Kangundo MP Johnstone Muthama, and several Kenyan business people.

The invitation comes a year after another where the VP was hosted by Cyprian Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs in which Kenya was presented with 28 scholarships for various courses for Kenyan students. En route to Cypress the VP will make a stop over in London where he will meet with Kenyans working and living in the UK and some parts of Europe.

Meanwhile the VP has sent a congratulatory message to the Sikh community in Kenya on the occasion of the 542nd birthday celebrations of the founder of the Sikh religion, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The VP lauded the role the Sikh community has played in establishing thriving businesses, which have made the Kenyan economy the most competitive in the region.
