Two traders allegedly found with sandalwood worth Sh17 million were yesterday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo.
Police said they arrested Njuguna Mundia (left) and Isaac Maina at the Mau Summit roadblock on March 25 as they transported 17 tonnes of the tree from Marmanet Forest in Laikipia County.
Police said the men did not have a permit from the Kenya Forest Service director.
The suspects denied the charges and were released on Sh2 million bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh1 million.
The case will be mentioned on April 18. [Daniel Chege and Harun Wathari, Standard]
