NAIROBI: Members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (Icpak) have elected Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) Head of Finance Fernandes Barasa as their new chairman.
The results of the elections for the chairman and Council Members for 2015-2017 were announced after completion of voting yesterday. The voting started on May 20.
Icpak said in a statement that the new leadership would be officially unveiled during its annual general meeting on June 5 at KCA University Grounds. Mr Barasa replaced Mr Benson Okundi who has held the position for the last two years.
Before being elected the 21st chairman, Barasa had been the Icpak vice-chair and the convener of the institute’s Finance & Strategy Committee.
He has a wealth of experience in accounting, risk and financial management. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and MBA in Finance from Kenyatta University.

Elected to serve on the council for a term of three years were June Kivinda and Samuel Okello. Kivinda has a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration from the United States International University, while Okello has an MBA (Finance) and B.Com (Accounting), from the University of Nairobi and is a C.P.A (K) and C.P.S (K).
