Lands Minister James Orengo has blamed communities living along river Nzoia for frustrating Government’s efforts to construct dams to control perennial floods.
Orengo said people who own land in designated areas along the river should agree to be compensated to pave way for the dams and canals.
"This way, lasting solution to the floods menace will be found," said Orengo.
The minister noted that it was the same people who have all along opposed the construction of the dams who have now been displaced by floods after River Nzoia burst its banks.
