A child is nursing injuries inflicted on her private parts after a man who allegedly posed as her mother’s business customer defiled her.
The girl, 10, is at Mariakani District Hospital in Kilifi County.
At the hospital, she narrated how the man escorted her to a nearby public garden near Mazeras town, where he assaulted her.
"I was from the shop in company of my siblings when the man called me, saying he knew my mother. He said he wanted to give me some money to take to her. He led me to a bush where he removed a knife and told me to keep quiet. That’s when he defiled me several times, then left," said the girl.

According to the district medical superintendent David Mukabi, the child’s mother brought her to the hospital last Tuesday bleeding heavily.
"The girl was brought to the hospital five days ago, alleging that she had been defiled by an unknown man. After examining her, we discovered that she had been physically assaulted then defiled," said Dr Mukabi.
He said the child was injured, indicating that someone had forced himself into her. She had a surgery.
"She suffered a second degree perineal tear. It is like the suspect forced himself into her, but luckily we managed to repair the tear and now she is in a stable condition," he explained.
Mukabi said the girl was severely injured, making it difficult for her to pass stool.
The child’s mother, a businesswoman, said she heard of her daughter’s assault when she was called by a police officer.
"When I reached the police booth in Mazeras, I was shocked to see my daughter lying unconscious and bleeding. I brought her to this hospital and she is being treated," she said.
The mother wondered who might have done this since they were so new to the area.
