A prison warder at Malindi GK Prison shot himself dead as two other people committed suicide in separate incidents in Taita-Taveta.
Mr Dickson Ongati Moseti, 28, is said to have shot himself twice in the head for unknown reasons on Wednesday midnight. He was among officers manning the prison main gate when he killed himself in the presence of his colleagues.
Sources said he had briefly left to his house, where he was living with his wife and handed her his personal items including appointment letter, wallet, phone, ATM card and two recent pay slips before taking his life.
He is also said to have told the wife, Margaret Moseti, to take care of their son, two, before leaving the house with his official G3 rifle.

Deputy Prison Commandant Edward Sichei said minutes after leaving the house he shot himself dead. "We heard gunshots and rushed out only to find the officer lying dead at the gate with the gun in his hands," Sichei said.
His body was taken to Malindi District Hospital mortuary as police launched investigations into the incident, Sichei said.
The officer’s widow claimed there were no family quarrels to warrant the act but Ongati had intimated to her he had a problem he could not share.
And in Taita Taveta, two suicide incidents were reported on Thursday at Kishushe and Rong’e Juu locations.
Both hanged themselves
In the first incident, a man was shocked to find the body of his wife, 32, hanging in their house.
The mother of four is said to have killed herself shortly after making breakfast for her family in Wundanyi Division.
Taita deputy OCPD Justus Kitetu said she was alone in the home when she took her life. Her children were in school and husband out for casual work at a road construction site.
In the second incident, the body of a mentally sick man, 40, was found hanging from a mango tree outside his house in Mwambirwa Division. Boniface Mwakamba is said to have been living alone after he separated with his wife.
Kitetu said the bodies were taken to Wesu District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
