Internet service provider, Access Kenya, has launched a retail outlet to up its distribution network at Westgate Shopping Mall Westlands.
The outlet comes after a review of its distribution infrastructure, which will now see it appoint sales agents and resellers in Nairobi and Mombasa.
The firm has previously used an in house sales team to sell its products that include Internet provision and IT services by increased competition in the Internet provision business is now compelling it to rethinks its strategy.
The firm is the first ISP to venture into retail stores and has been informed by increased competition following the entry of mobile phone operators into internet provision.
Mobile data
Mobile operators now command a huge market share especially in the retail market, with a significant chunk of mobile users turning into data customers through Internet access using cell phones as well as through mobile data modems.
"These retail stores will create convenience to our rapidly growing clientele and increase the AccessKenya footprint in the marketBy delivering our services to the people we are responding to customer needs," said Jonathan Somen, Group Managing Director, AccessKenya Group
"The store is an experiential area where clients will be able to experience our internet speeds through our metro fibre network," he said.
