A Machakos University student has written and produced two stage plays dubbed 'My soul is burning' and 'Blood and Love.'

Brian Kithimba, a Third Year student pursuing a Bachelor of Economics, explained that the two-stage plays speak about a Christian family that was participating in evil deeds and a man of the cloth who embezzled public funds.

"My soul is burning spoke about a family that had gone to hell. And from hell they started reflecting on what had caused them to go to hell," he said.

He added that "Blood and Love is about a Kenyan student who studies investigative journalism in a South African institution.

"When the student returns to Kenya he investigates a man of God (Bishop Kaizer) only to realize he is corrupt and embezzled public funds."

Brian, popularly known as Dazzling Jnr, said that apart from academics he uses acting to impact society.

"Behind every film or stage play I am part of, there is a message I am sending to society, not just entertainment. Every script I have written either for film or stage play has had a different theme, from love life to crime and Religion," he said.

He said that mostly in the stage plays, he writes about hypocrisy and corruption, especially in religion and politics.

"I gather ideas from my surroundings and observation. I also check on what is happening on the internet, then I write what I feel should be said," he said. Dazzling Jnr said that his mother, who is a teacher, has helped in balancing studies and film activities.

"My mum is a teacher and she has helped me a lot in balancing by always reminding me of all my priorities. I know my schedules and I give my best in all, although I would say it's hard and sometimes one thing is higher than the other," he said.

He said that his family was supportive and proud of what he was doing which has instilled more confidence while juggling the acting career.

"Everyone is proud of me. They have seen me change my life and grow into a responsible man. When I am having an event they are the first ones to buy tickets," he said.

He said that the money he makes from acting he invests in filming and other projects he is involved in and also to provide a few essentials for himself.

"Acting pays but is the money enough?" he said, adding that, "I'm a comrade. The money I earn helps me survive in school, invest for filming and buy a few things for myself and sometimes for my sister."

Dazzling Jnr also said that he has also written and produced two short films dubbed 'Two Ventricles' and 'Guilty' which are currently airing on his YouTube channel.
