ODM leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida has launched an ambitious Sh300 million legacy project in Homa Bay County to be completed before 2022.

The project at her alma mater Ogande Girls Secondary School will comprise a library, ICT lab, learning and resource centre. With the structural designs ready, Ida has now embarked on massive fundraising for the project.

Corporate organisations, foreign diplomats and dignitaries have been invited for a fundraiser for the project. She has already raised about Sh30 million.

“This is my legacy project and as I celebrate 70 years, I want to pursue it to fruition,” Ida told The Standard yesterday.

The funds drive will be held virtually via a video link at a Nairobi hotel, with only a few invited to attend physically.

The rest will be taken through the project designs and thereafter send in their contributions.

The artist’s impression of the project christened Dr Ida Odinga Library Research, Innovation and Resource Centre has been shared with the invited guests.
