James Kamau braved wet and hard course conditions to win the men's prize in the Johnnie Walker series, played at the par-72 Thika Sports Club over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 15, Kamau posted 22 Stableford points on the outbound nine and added 19 more Stableford points from the inbound nine for a round total of 40 points to prevail despite the soggy conditions. 

“My focus was on my target. I had to make sure I was swinging towards it,” said Kamau of his win. 

David Mwangi playing off 20, was the men's runner-up on a score of 35 (18+17) Stableford points, while handicap 28 Dominic Chege was third on a score of 34 (18+16) Stableford points.

At handicap 5, Watson Burugu bagged the men's fourth prize on a score of 34 (19+15) Stableford points.

Immediate past Chairman Betty Mutua, playing off handicap 16, emerged the Lady winner on a score of 32 (13+19) Stableford points.

Handicap 19 Judy Waihenya shot a round total of 31 (16+15) Stableford points to settle for the runner-up prize. 

GUEST WINNER

Vet Lab’s Judy Njuguna was the Guest winner on a score of 35 (18+17) Stableford points as handicap 24 Edwin Mathenge settled for Guest runner-up on a score of 33 (17+16) Stableford points.

Ken Chege, playing off handicap 13, won the 1st Nine prize with 20 Stableford points as handicap 5 David Matano took the 2nd Nine prize with 18 Stableford points. 

Handicap 12 Nderitu Mugi won the Staff prize on a score of 30 (14+16) Stableford points. [Mose Sammy]
