Officials have warned that many schools in the county will be closed due to the current water shortage.

Coast Water Service Board cut water supply last week due to a debt dispute with the county government and Baricho Water Works.

Many institutions served by piped water from Baricho now depend on wells and water bowsers.

Ganze Sub-County Director for Education Omari Borura described the shortage as crippling and said many schools might close soon.

The sub-county has 25 secondary schools and 125 primary schools. Kaloleni Sub-County Chief Education Officer Haron Karani said schools in his area now solely relied on water bowsers.
