Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk is a happy man following his record-breaking transfer to Liverpool from Southampton.
Van Dijk had been linked with a kove away from the Saints last summer, even handing in a transfer request but failed to secure a move away from St. Mary’s.
According to Mirror Football, his transfer to Anfield will be completed on Monday, January 1st 2018, as he has already undergone a medical.
He is set to become the world’s most expensive defender, with reports suggesting that he will earh around 180,000 euros in a week.
An excited Van Dijk said, “I’m delighted and honoured to have agreed to become a Liverpool FC player. Today is a proud day for me and my family as I join one of the biggest clubs in world football. I can’t wait to pull on the famous red shirt for the first time in front of the Kop and give everything I have to try to help this great club achieve something special in years to come.”
Van Dijk also thanked everyone who helped his progress at Southampton including the board manager and the fans.
