Kenya has grabbed the first group stage win at the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup that kicked off today at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Stars got their lead in the early minutes of the first half after Kariobangi Sharks striker Masoud Juma slotted home a penalty. Juma however failed to double the lead some few minutes when he blasted the shot over the bar instead of converting.
Otieno Duncan later doubled the lead for the Stars in the 37 minute with a finely taken rocket shot. Rwanda was however reduced to 10 me after Kayumba Soter was shown red for a lunge, a bookable offense on his opponent.
The second part of the match was however marred with adverse weather where the rains made the pitch slippery. Kenya however held on to the lead to bag maximum points as they await for their next match against Libya at Machakos Stadium on Tuesday.
