The 96 people killed in the Hillsborough disaster were 'unlawfully killed' as police made errors, a long-standing inquest has concluded.

The jury this morning reached a verdict that those who died in the 1989 tragedy were unlawfully killed.

The 96 Liverpool fans died in a crush during the FA Cup semi final between the Anfield club and Nottingham Forest on April 15 1989.

A further 766 were injured.

The jury heard two years of evidence before retiring at the start of April.
