NAIROBI: State House and the Interior ministry each need Sh100 million to facilitate forums meant to showcase Government achievements.

At a meeting with MPs on Tuesday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery said the trips by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto required a lot of "mobilisation" especially for the police and the national government administrators in the counties.

State House too has asked for Sh100 million for "domestic travel, rentals and other operating expenses" under the office of the Deputy President.

The first such meeting out of Nairobi this month is where Uhuru and Ruto are expected in Nakuru on April 16 for a thanksgiving rally after the collapse of the International Criminal Court case.

Documents submitted to the National Assembly's Committee on Administration and National Security show Nkaissery had asked for the money in the Supplementary Budget but the National Treasury rejected the allocation, and that is why he was lobbying the lawmakers to overrule the decision.
