Two MPs have asked the Government to investigate individuals scheming to fleece the public on the pretext of helping with resettlement.

MPs David Lazaro (Saboti) and Janet Nangabo (Trans Nzoia woman representative) said people from as far as Uganda were  flocking the county after being told that the Government had set aside land for their resettlement.

Mr Lazaro and Ms Nangabo claimed leaders with a certain political agenda are listing people from Bungoma County and Bokwo and Kapchaorwa districts in Uganda, promising them land in Trans Nzoia County.

The MP asked the police to investigate and bring to book those involved.

"Some people including Ugandans have flocked the county after being duped by individuals that there is free land for resettlement," Nangabo said.

Last month, four Ugandans were seized by residents of Kitale in Saboti constituency.

The foreigners were transported to the area by a local politician who promised to facilitate their resettlement.

"The Government should probe these crooks because their activities are creating unnecessary tension," said Nangabo.
