He's toying with her emotions

He’s been saying to her stuff like: “My wife is annoying and it’s got to a point where I’m considering a divorce”

Dear Coleen,

My friend is in love with her colleague who has been married for nearly seven years. I think he’s leading her on.

He’s been saying to her stuff like: “My wife is annoying and it’s got to a point where I’m considering a divorce”.

He says this even though he knew my friend was in love with him before he got married.

I’ve advised my mate to back off and try to get on with her life, but she won’t listen.

What else can I do to make her realize he’s playing with her feelings?

Coleen says.

Yep, he’s totally keeping her on the end of a lead, making sure to keep dropping hints there might be a chance he’ll leave his wife, so your friend doesn’t go off with anyone else.

If he genuinely cared for her and knew she loved him long before he got married, then he wouldn’t have got married.

And say he did leave his wife tomorrow – how would your friend know he wouldn’t start cheating on her and say those things to someone else?

He sounds like he’s just a bit of a player.

This guy needs to grow a pair and end it with his wife to give her the chance to meet someone who deserves her.

But somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen. If your friend gave him an ultimatum, I bet he would run for the hills.

All you can do is be honest but supportive, and try to resist saying “I told you so” if it all goes wrong!
