The new Independent Boundaries and Elections Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer, Ezra Chiloba, has cracked his whip for the first time by suspending a senior officer at the commission.
Mr Chiloba suspended Risk and Compliance Director Abdirahman Bilacha for insubordination among other reasons.
The IEBC boss gave Mr Bilacha the letter of suspension last Friday, only three days after he had been sworn into office.
"It is true that he (Bilacha) has been suspended. This is part of a normal disciplinary procedure and he has been given 14 days to show cause why he should not be sacked," IEBC Communication Manager Tabitha Mutemi said.
"As their team leader, I will foster a culture of dedication to excellence in service delivery, mutual respect, professionalism, transparency and accountability in carrying out our mandate," Chiloba said after being sworn in last Tuesday.
IEBC has been in the process of filling key senior positions since late last year as it tries to position itself for the next General Election.
