CORD leader Raila Odinga

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has accused the Jubilee government of condoning extra judicial killings to allegedly weaken the Opposition.

Raila alleged there were State police death squads targeting prominent individuals allied to the Opposition.

Speaking at Lower Kakwa Jwok village in Karachuonyo consituency during the burial of Nairobi based-businessman Jared Ochoko, Raila accused the Government of failing to use constitutional institutions like courts to punish offenders.

The former Prime Minister recounted the manner in which Ochoko, who was linked to controversial land dealings, was killed by gunmen in Nairobi a few weeks ago.

The CORD leader also cited the killing of 26 Muslim Imams and four Christian priests in the Coastal region, saying the Government had done nothing to have the culprits apprehended.

“Lamu governor was arrested but they found no evidence to implicate him with the massacre in the area. It is unfortunate that the Government has done completely nothing to have the culprits arrested.

This is a clear indication that the Government is aware of the culprits,” he said.

Airport saga

Raila expressed worry that State was using police officers to kill citizens. He challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to ensure their government protects the sanctity of life. “It is very wrong that Kenyans are paying their taxes to employ the police but they end up using their positions and the guns in killing the people who have employed them,” said Raila.

He warned that Kenyans could resort to taking the law into their hands if Government fails to grant them the security they deserve.

Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo blamed the Jubilee Government for the airport incident involving Bungoma

Senator Moses Wetang’ula who he was ejected from KQ plane on grounds that he had not produced the national Identification Card before boarding.

She alleged harassment of MPs allied to the Opposition. “Wetangula is such an eminent leader who should not undergo the frustration he underwent at the airport. I have also undergone the same when I was forced to identify myself in an aeroplane as if they don’t know me,” Millie said.

“Jubilee MPs process their air tickets in a day while those of the Opposition can be delayed for up to four days. This is a means of frustrating CORD,” Millie said.

Nyando MP Fred Outa, Aduma Owuor of Nyakach and their Ruaraka counterpart Tom Kajwang’ vowed they will take bodies of people killed through extrajudicial manner to State House to discourage the vice.
