A lot has been said and written about the Jubilee laptop computer project for Class One pupils. Some have welcomed the project as a positive move towards embracing technology in our schools while others feel it is a misplaced priority.

 I concur with the latter.

This project sounds more of a comedy than sensible. How can we give jigger infested children, for instance, a laptop computer? How will they press the keyboard buttons with such painful fingers?

President Uhuru Kenyatta needs to be reminded that some election promises can wait a little to give other pressing issues a priority.

Before rolling out this project, the government should first put up the supporting infrastructure. Classrooms should be constructed since in many rural schools, children learn under stress. More teachers need to be hired to ease the congestion in classrooms.

For sure, this project need not to be rushed, the Government should first negotiate with the concerned stakeholders before enrolling it.

Using force will not help!
