Muslims have threatened to sue police officers and their commanders over recent murders, arrests, and disappearance of some faithful.
In statement read by the director general of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (Supkem), Sheikh Abdillatif Shaaban, the leaders from 47 counties said there has been a trend of abuse of citizens’ rights and police brutality.
They cited disappearance of six Muslims allegedly kidnapped by police officers, the murder of terror suspect Samir Khan, whose body was found at the Tsavo National Park in April after being abducted, and the recent murder of Sheikh Aboud Rogo in Mombasa.
The leaders said nine Kenyan Muslims are in foreign jails after being renditioned by the Government in mysterious.
“We shall commence litigation against specific police officers and their commanders, who are responsible for illegal actions on cases that have been reported,” Shaaban said during a press conference at Jamia Mosque in Nairobi, yesterday.
