Msambweni MP Omar Zonga was arrested on Thursday and will face land corruption charges on Monday.

The Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested the MP and nine others among them two Ministry of Lands officials. But he was lucky as he was released on a Sh 500,000 bond.

Zonga will now appear in Mombasa’s anti- corruption court on Monday May 21 to face the charges.

A statement from the EACC said Zonga and co accused are alleged to have conspired to defraud Dignified Holdings Ltd, contrary to section 317 of the penal code, its parcel of land in Kwale/Diani beach by causing the preparation of a partial development that had already been alienated and registered in Dignified holdings.

The MP will face another charge of obtaining registration by false pretence contrary to section 320 of the penal code.

The alleged crimes were committed on diverse dates between  September 1998 and October 2006 at Ardhi House, the  headquarters of Ministry of Lands.
