A man butchered his three relatives in cold blood in a protracted family land dispute before surrendering himself to police.
Shock and disbelieve gripped residents of sleepy Nyakamba Village in Marani District, Kisii County after a man slashed to death his brother, sister-law and nephew using a panga.
Residents were on Monday trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of Charles Ogoti, 50, his wife Alice Ogoti 40 and their son Uglas Gichana, 22 on Sunday night.
They were slashed to death by Ogoti’s brother who attacked them at around 11pm inside their house.
Confirming the incident, Marani DC Dennis Ogolla said the bizarre killings stemmed from family differences revolving around land disputes.
The DC said investigations had been launched into the incident.
Police removed the badly mutilated bodies from the scene to Kisii Level Five Hospital.
After accomplishing his murderous mission, the assailant walked to Rioma Police Station armed with his killer tool and surrendered to the police.
Cases of murders linked to family members are common in Kisii with the motive of killing being unresolved land disputes.
