A French research company, Ipsos, has acquired Synovate Research at Sh86.6 billion, creating the third largest global market research company.

While announcing the acquisition, Ipsos Chief Executive Officer David Somers said the research company is present in 84 countries with the latest being Kenya.

"We maintain honest, direct, and loyal relations with clients and colleagues and we are committed to delivering the finest service to our clients, satisfying them above and beyond their expectations," said Somers.

He said Ipsos Synovate will strive for excellence in their undertakings and thereby setting new standards for the research.

Talks between Ipsos and Synovate began six months ago with the two companies sealing the deal on Friday.

Synovate has offices in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Zambia and Mozambique and carries out research in over 30 African countries.

The acquisition comes hot on the heels of questions raised over Synovate’s credibility after cancellation of the results of a research it carried out between April and June.

"I don’t understand why we are being vilified yet we did the right thing to cancel the results after finding some discrepancies," said Roger Steadman, Synovate Executive Director.

Ipsos Synovate will be headed by Maggie Ireri formerly of Synovate.
