Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of Nigerian singer Davido and Chioma Rowland is dead.

Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the news to BBC saying the three-year-old drowned on Monday.

Media reports say Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at his father's residence located at Banana Island in Lagos State.

According to the reports, Ifeanyi was rushed to hospital but attempts to resuscitate him were futile.

Davido and Chioma had reportedly travelled to Ibadan, Oyo State, for a family gathering and left Ifeanyi at home with his caretakers when the incident occurred.

Hundeyin confirmed that eight members of staff had been taken in for questioning as police probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"We are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death," Mr Hundeyin said.
