VIDEO: Ruth Odinga shows off boxing skills as she eyes Kisumu governor seat

Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has shown off her boxing skills in a gym session, sharing a playful message to women as the 2027 General Election approaches.

In a video shared on her Facebook page, Ruth is seen throwing a series of punches at a boxing bag during an energetic workout.

“Ladies, elections are around the corner... let’s prepare!!!,” she captioned the clip.

The message comes as Ruth positions herself for a possible run for the Kisumu governorship, where she hopes to succeed incumbent Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.

The legislator has also been vocal about internal politics within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), particularly how the party will select candidates for the next election.

She has called for free and fair nominations, opposing the issuance of direct tickets to preferred aspirants and arguing that candidates should compete for the support of party members.

Earlier this month, Ruth indicated she was prepared to leave ODM rather than compromise what she described as her fight for justice and democracy.

Her interest in the governor’s seat is not new. She served as Kisumu’s first Deputy Governor from 2013 to 2017 and initially expressed interest in running for governor in 2013 before withdrawing from the race.

More than a decade later, she is again setting her sights on the county’s top seat.

With political alignments and succession plans beginning to take shape ahead of the 2027 polls, Ruth’s latest gym video offers a glimpse of her life away from politics, while her caption carries a timely message as the campaign season draws closer.
