Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has conceded defeat on behalf of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate following the high-stakes Ol Kalou constituency by-election.

Commenting on the results on his social media pages, Kindiki remained defiant, hinting that the competition is far from over.

"Mbeere North: 1 Ol Kalou: 1. Final Match 10 Aug' 2027," Kindiki noted.

The Deputy President referenced the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election, where UDA's Leo Wamuthende emerged victorious, a race in which he had actively campaigned for the ruling party on his home turf.

Later, Kindiki added a congratulatory message for the DCP candidate.

"Congratulations, Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau, on your imminent victory in the by-election held today for the MP seat for Ol Kalou constituency. Unite the residents and serve them all without distinction," he said.

But Kindiki's remarks come on the back of the deep political undercurrents of the Ol Kalou poll, which was widely seen as a crucial test of the ruling coalition's grip on the 'Murima' region.

In the same vein, digital strategist Dennis Itumbi offered his congratulations to the victor, DCP's Sammy Kamau Waweru, while encouraging the ruling party's candidate.

Itumbi acknowledged the intense nature of the campaign, noting that the race was closely fought but ultimately conceded that the day belonged to the opposition.

"Congratulations, Ngotho. Well fought. Well Won. Serve Olkalou well," Itumbi stated.

He then turned his attention to the UDA candidate, adding, "Good campaign, Muchina Samuel Nyagah; we had a great race. We did what we could. We lost today. There is tomorrow. Tuonane in the next democratic process."

"Senator Methu, your campaign won; the future awaits. Sasa get confirmed as SG. Sina mengi ya kusema kwa sasa," Itumbi added.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was also part of the concessions, taking to his social media platforms shortly after the outcome became clear to congratulate Waweru on his victory.

Sudi, a staunch ally of President William Ruto, had actively campaigned on the ground in Nyandarua County for the ruling party's flagbearer, Samuel Muchinah Nyagah.

Despite his vigorous campaigning on the trail, which significantly raised the stakes for the ruling party, the lawmaker expressed his respect for the democratic process and acknowledged the finality of the vote.

"I want to congratulate Hon. Sammy Kamau Waweru for winning the Ol Kalou by-election," Sudi stated.

The Kapseret legislator also went on to acknowledge his candidate's effort, adding, "Thumbs up also to Samuel Muchinah Nyagah for a well-fought race. I was on the ground, and I respect the decision made by the people of Ol Kalou."
