National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of planning violence ahead of a political rally set to take place in Kikuyu Town.
In a letter addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Ichung’wah called for increased security, warning that any withdrawal of police officers from the event could expose residents to possible chaos.
He claimed there is intelligence indicating that groups are being mobilised from different parts of the country to disrupt the rally. He alleged that these groups are meant to cause unrest and later shift blame to others.

Ichung’wah also linked his concerns to past incidents in Kikuyu Constituency, saying similar patterns of violence had been witnessed before, including attacks on public offices and private property. He said those incidents were investigated and some arrests were made.
He further warned that some businesses in Kikuyu Town, including those linked to his family, could be targeted during the event. He urged police to take the claims seriously and act on the information provided.
The MP also referred to recent public remarks he says were made by Gachagua, describing them as threatening and likely to fuel tension. He said such statements risk increasing political hostility at a time when calm is needed.
He, however, stressed that Kikuyu Constituency remains open to all leaders and political groups who wish to engage with residents. He said political rallies are welcome as long as they are conducted peacefully and within the law.
He added that security agencies have a responsibility to protect both participants and residents, as well as their property, during any political gatherings.
The Majority Leader urged the Inspector General to ensure a strong security presence during the planned rally and to prevent any form of violence.
He also warned against what he termed attempts to create confusion and then blame law enforcement or political opponents afterward.
This comes hours after Rigathi Gachagua wrote to Inspector General of Police raising concerns over Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah ahead of a planned political rally in Kikuyu Town.
