"Nonsense!" Raila Junior slams Oketch Salah, hours after Winnie Odinga termed him outsider

EALA MP Winnie Odinga has strongly dismissed claims by businessman Oketch Salah that he was closely involved in the final days of her late father, terming them false, reckless, and deeply troubling.

In a TV interview, Winnie rejected Salah’s narrative that he had been present during Raila Odinga’s illness and death or held a position akin to an adopted son within the Odinga family. Raila Odinga passed away on October 15, 2025, in India after suffering cardiac arrest.

Winnie emphasised that Salah was virtually unknown to the family, and that his public statements were not only inaccurate but potentially harmful.

“I have met Oketch Salah, but I’d like to believe nobody really knows him. A flat-out lie that you were there at the time of my father’s death, and you were not, is quite dangerous and makes me question his intentions,” she said.

She also called for authorities to intervene, questioning Salah’s state of mind and motives.

“He should be rushed to either Mathare or the DCI with immediate effect,” Winnie added.

Salah had recently appeared in the media claiming he had been by Raila Odinga’s side throughout his illness, sharing private conversations and offering emotional support. He insisted he was not seeking sympathy or political relevance but merely recounting the truth.

Despite the backlash, Salah has maintained his version of events, claiming he travelled with Raila and was present during key moments of his illness.

On X, he shared his rebuttal of Winnie Odinga's attacks, which then lit a fire on the platform.

"I stand by everything I said about my last moments with Baba. Those moments were real, painful and lived," he shared.

Raila Odinga Jr. dismissed Salah’s claims succinctly in a viral one-word response, “Nonsense."
